Justice are back folks, so sooner or later I had to make this my 'Record of the Day'. "Civilization” is the lead single off Justice’s long-awaited sophomore LP, which is expected to be released sometime this year. Listen HERE.
Just recently we saw the full release of the KRINK x Casio G-Shock DW6900KR-8 watch. To compliment the collaborative release, both KRINK and G-Shock link-up to present a short video which highlights several topics. Of course the notion of working together with Casio G-Shock is discussed as well as his initial foray into painting mailboxes and working in New York City.
Who said Tyler The Creator was the only star in Odd Future? Nah dude, Hodgy Beats goes hard, and Earl is by far the best rapper in Odd Future. Anyway, the sample to 'Mystery' if you're wondering, derives from the legendary English rock outfit, Moody Blues. With that said, it just doesn't stop as the Odd Future phenomena rep just keeps growing bigger! Wolf Gang. Listen HERE.
In Seoul, South Korea, the remarkable office tower GT Tower East, has been inaugurated. Designed by the Dutch architectural firm ArchitectenConsort, based in Rotterdam, GT Tower East will form an architectural unit with the GT Tower West, yet to be built. With its elegantly undulating glass facade, the new high-rise brings a fascinating change to the angular architecture of the Korean capital. So so so good. (via The Contemporist)
I'm in love with Panda Bear (pause), you need to get involved. After releasing both his singles "Surfer's Hymn" and Actress's remix of it earlier this week, Panda Bear has returned with yet another song for the world to listen to. But instead of being on his forthcoming album, Tomboy, like "Surfer's Hymn" will be, this song is available now on the Animal Collective x Keep cassette. Listen to 'The Preakness' HERE.
French artist Jérôme Corgier, has created the alphabet from pieces of paper, may not seem that good, but then you look at the images of the pieces he's created, and you can';t deny that they are lovely. He's a very focused man, I would have got bored at 'C'.
A nice bit of visual stimulation for you, playing to the workings of our inner child with the amazing presentation of tilt-shift capture, Disneyland Paris is the subject of a two minute clip that showcases the amusement park through a regular day. For the most part, if you’ve been to any particular Disneyland, the experience is roughly the same but it certainly doesn’t detract from the visuals shown in the video.
Back with some 'Record of the Day' fun. This time it comes from Ghostpoet and Grime legend Kano. It wasn't so long ago when Kano was considered one of the hottest (if not the hottest) MC in the UK, he has had some what of a fall from grace since 'Ps & Qs' etc, but Ghostpoet brings him back to form with this collabo. ALso go get Ghostpoet's album, it's pretty good.
Chip Tha Ripper is killing it at the moment, putting out some solid records, loved his verse of 'Fat Raps' as well (although Asher Roth murdered that). Here is a video for 'Light One Up' by way of my dudes at IllRoots.com and Directed by Ken Koller.
Here it is, the 'All of the Lights' remix, featuring Lil Wayne, Big Sean & Drake. Lil Wayne really comes in on this track so weak, must be saving his bars for Carter4. I really am liking how Big Sean ("boyyyy") is developing, he goes hard on this, and Drake is a little off on the flow in places but some classic punchlines from the Toronto native. Thank you The Guardian! Check this excellent video giving a behind the scenes look at the new Zaha Hadid Guangzhou Opera House. Architecture at its best, well done CHina and Zaha. Enjoy it..
As it's Monday, and I'm feeling slightly fruity, I decided to make my 'Record of the Day' a whole friggin' mixtape, Mac Miller's eagerly anticipated Best Day Ever has arrived. The fifteen track deep piece boasts guest appearances by Phonte and Wiz Khalifa and production work by Chuck Inglish and Just Blaze amongst others. Get it HERE.
I have to say I was surprised when I saw this collabo, Lil B teams up with producer 9th Wonder and rappers Jean Grae and Phonte. Appropriately titled “Base For Your Face” to go along with Lil B’s ‘BasedGod’ moniker, the track features the three rappers flowing over the type of soulful beat 9th Wonder has become known for. It's very interesting. Listen HERE.
Pusha T's first solo album under the GOOD Music label seems to be shaping up nicely. A steady buzz online for the whole campaign, and this track isn't lessening the buzz at all.. 'Cook It Down', get on board. Click HERE to listen.
Street Etiquette released another of their editorials last night, this one called ’sartorial sounds’. As you might’ve guessed from the title, there’s a musical influence with several musicians, including the likes of Theo Martins, Jesse Boykins III and Mara Hruby, collaborating for a song/jam session.
A few of the street style shots snapped by the famous Tommy Ton. The shots focus on menswear during this year’s London Fashion Week, with a wide range of styles and looks covered. Check them all out below, with even more photographs shown here via GQ online.
Happy Monday! The Arctic Monkey's are back with this 'straight to video' record, 'Brick by Brick' the visual for the guitar-heavy song offers a first impression from their new album sessions. The clip above indicates that “Brick by Brick” was produced at Hollywood’s Sunset Sound Studios by longtime producer James Ford. The yet-to-be-titled album is set to appear later this year.
What seems to be a reference track for the new Kanye West album due this Summer, has leaked online today. It appears that its original title is “Not Enough Time (Summer of Dreams). Mind you that this is an unfinished version and its origin is still unclear. Leftover or all new Ye, you be the judge. Click HERE to be confused.
